“Back home now and doing much reflecting about last week. It was an absolute blast, I loved it all and have brought much away with me. Many thanks for indulging me! I know it’s a busy time for you but when you have time and if it’s possiblecould you let me have an email contact list for all those that attended last week, I got a few but it would be nice just to say hi to them all and give them an invitation if they are ever in my neck of the woods. You included of course. Thanks again for a unforgettable time, the staff, organization etc were an inspiration and I’m imagining (with a little envy) about what you’re all up to right now.
Peace, love and music”

“It’s Eva from Barcelona. How are you doing? So I am back in my home town and missing NY big time, I did cry in the plane back…. I had such a great time at the SIM, now I am back, and Barcelona seems unfamiliar and unkind to me… For now I am just remembering the good times and thinking of the great people I met there, also great gigs I enjoyed.
You know, I need time to digest all the huge amount of information I now have in my hands… There‚ s a lot to say and, above all, to think of! Thoughts, ideas, composition skills, new ways of listening, making the brain muscle work… how great it was being in NY and how fortunate I felt about the people I met there. This is for me like a gift.
I was trying to retain all the lessons I was given these last 3 weeks. Jason Moran, Fred Hersch, Andy Milne, Vijay Iyer, Uri Caine (so generous), Ravi Coltrane (man, greatest time playing with him and trying some free improvisational exercises, surprising results! Was that me playing? That was awesome and very intense, too. I won’t forget it).and finally try to think what was good about all this… SIM has been such an important experience for me, both musical and human, that I’ m already making some plans about my future. I’ m really considering leaving Europe in a couple of years, after I finish my studies. In the meantime, I might do some visits to NY again, so that I’ m able to learn again from the great teachers and musicians I discovered there -you, of course, are top of the list!- oh and also to go to visit the Empire State Building!!!! the MOMA!!!! the Statue of Liberty!!!! go to Central Park again!!! (I didn‚t really have time or energy for that…)
And that‚s it, really enjoyed the rehearsals, the teacher’ s and student’ s concerts and I am going to miss it all bad.
There is consolation though as I am off to the Netherlands next week ˆ I wonder what the future holds for me there! Well if it‚s anything half as exciting and interesting as NY, I will be a very happy soul!
One last thing… Please, do let me know when you come to play in The Netherlands. Thanks!
Take care!
Best regards,”

“It is really the students who should be giving you the round of thanks. I can’t think of any other place that offered such a healthy, welcoming environment for growing as a musician. I was a astounded at the access to the faculty and other musicians of note! It was a treasured experience for me and I am grateful that you continue to do it.
Again, my many thanks! I’ll do my part promoting SIM whenever and wherever possible. Please let me know if there is any way I can help this excellent community, I would be more than happy to do so.”

“I just came back to Paris, and I would like to thank you for this wonderful time spent in the SIM and in New York city. It changed my life and my vision of music. It opened me to new ways and made my feelings for music bigger and stronger.
Thank you for making SIM and doing such a beautiful gift. I wish for SIM prosperity and still growing with this beautiful idea of sharing.
I hope to see you again in New York , Paris or somewhere else on Earth…
Peace”
